COVID-19 is having a particularly large impact on the wellbeing of our RAF veteran community, many of whom are in high-risk categories and are therefore shielding or self-isolating.
Our emergency telephone outreach service is contacting over 30,000 vulnerable individuals to check on their welfare, offer them regular telephone friendship and alert them to other support services. We are finding large numbers of people suffering truly desperate levels of isolation, loneliness and need.
We are determined to ensure that no single member of our RAF community is left to struggle through these difficult times on their own. A united effort from our branches, our employees and our amazing army of new volunteers is making sure everyone who needs help gets the support they deserve.
Since the COVID-19 crisis began, we have recruited over 80 new volunteer telephone befrienders. Due to the volume of veterans who need our help, we still need more. If you could volunteer your time during these times of crisis, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
We are here and will continue to be here for anyone that needs us. We are united, standing shoulder to shoulder with our RAF community in these times of crisis.
