Aviation Focus Group
The Aviation Focus Group provide a forum for the exchange of views on issues of interest to members, playing an important part in the aviation industry.
It meets for lunches three times a year at the RAF Club at 128 Piccadilly, in Central London, at which a prominent person is invited to speak. There are also other functions including an annual Dinner for members and their partners.
Over the years, as well as the increase in membership numbers, the AFG has continued to evolve into an organization that welcomes not just ex-military but also an increasing number from the wider community with no military background, but with an important part to play in the aviation and defence communities. It is partly due to this core aim that The Aviation Focus Group are kindly working with the RAF Association to fund two 12 hour scholarships in the year of 2019 (they also funded one in 2018) to help inspire the next generation of the defence and military communities.
Sean Bell, the Chairman of the Aviation Focus Group, said:
“The group is very keen to encourage and support young people who are interested in the aviation industry, so we’re delighted to be able to provide this flying scholarship. As a teenager, I was awarded a similar scholarship and that opportunity turned out to be life-changing for me. It increased my confidence and gave me skills that stood me in good stead for my career in the RAF.”
