Flying Scholarships Programme 2019
For over 11 years, the RAF Association has been running its Flying Scholarship programme for the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) and the Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets (GVCAC). In 2016, we opened up the scheme to include members of the Air Scouts/ Air Explorer Scouts.
The Flying Scholarship award is presented each year as a thank you to members of the RAFAC (which includes the Air Training Corps and the Combined Cadet Force), GVCAC and Air Scouts/Air Explorer Scouts for their continuous support to the RAF Association.
One winning candidate is rewarded with a course of 35 hours flight training in a light aircraft, and the course covers all or part of the tuition needed to obtain a Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL). Six runners-up receive 12 hours training each.
Thanks to generous support from our sponsors MBDA, who are funding three 12 hour Flying Scholarships, and AFG, who are funding a 12 hour Flying Scholarship, we are able to help inspire the next generation of the defence and military communities.
2019 applications will be accepted from 1 October 2018 and will close 31 January 2019.
