Why should you join the RAF Association? Our community spans the globe and is full of interesting, keen and like-minded members, all of whom want to do their bit to help the RAF family. This includes those who are currently serving, veterans, and their partners and dependants. When you join us you’ll be in brilliant company. Here are five reasons to join us:
1. You’ll join a community
Every member of the Association has a passion for the RAF and the RAF family. With over 400 branches worldwide and 74,000 members you’ll quickly settle in and find yourself forming friendships with likeminded individuals.
We even have virtual branches that you can join, based on common interests. So you can join our Motorcycle Branch for instance, or even start your own based on one of your hobbies!
Our community grows every day and is full of enthusiastic and friendly members who can’t wait to meet you.
2. Your voice will be heard
The Association belongs to our members and every member has a say in how we are run.
You will belong to a branch where you can attend meetings to voice your opinion about the way we do things. Through these branches, Area Councils and our board of trustees you can be sure that your ideas and concerns will be heard and considered.
We will always listen to your feedback and we love to hear your ideas for promoting and increasing our welfare work.
3. You can wear your badge with pride
We are so proud of our RAF family, and all of our members are people who want to thank those who have served, those who are still serving and their relations.
You can take immense pride in knowing that, as a member, you are helping the RAF family in the best possible way. We’d be lost without our members and the ongoing support that they bring to the Association, so whatever you do to help us you can wear your membership badge with pride.
4. You will be at the heart of the Association
Simply joining us is a great way to show support, but as a member of the Association you can also play a more pivotal part in supporting members of the RAF family.
There are lots of ways you can help. If you want to volunteer your time, then your role could be to befriend a veteran and to visit regularly for a chat and a cuppa. Or you could help run a Wings Café where like-minded people can meet and share stories.
If you don’t have time to volunteer, but you want to do something more to help then you could organise a fundraiser. Our members have run, swum, walked, cycled and plummeted (sorry, skydived!) many thousands of miles over the years to raise money. They have also made and drunk hundreds of cups of tea at Brew for the Few tea parties.
However you want to get involved, your support is invaluable to us and we appreciate every single member of the Association.
5. You’ll receive something in return
We know that you’ll love being a member of the Association and we want to thank you for your dedication, so we have created a marvellous members’ package.
Every three months you’ll receive our exclusive Air Mail magazine which is packed full of interesting news, updates and articles about the Association, its members and the RAF family. It also includes interviews and features to keep you in touch with the RAF.
All of our members can use our RAFA Rewards scheme to claim discounts on a dizzying array of products and services, from holidays and cinema trips, to high street shopping and insurance.
And last, but by no means least, you’ll receive your members’ pin badge which you can wear with pride, knowing you’re doing your bit.
If you’re proud of the RAF family and want to give something back to say thank for all that they do, then join us today.
