On Thursday 10 May the Royal Air Force Museum is inviting veterans and serving RAF personnel from across the world to celebrate at a special RAF Day.
Hosted by museum staff, the day is exclusively for RAF colleagues and veterans. Events run from 1000hrs to 1600hrs and include a flypast (details to be confirmed), live music, tours, refreshments and the chance to catch up with colleagues old and new. Guests will also be treated to a special preview of the museum’s brand-new Hangar 1, which houses two innovative galleries exploring the first 100 years of the RAF, showing its roles today and inviting visitors to imagine its future contribution and technology. With service men and women joining from across the country, it is set to be a truly memorable and sentimental gathering.
The invitation to attend is open to all who have served and who are serving in the RAF, and the museum hopes all squadrons and bases can be represented on the day at the museum’s London base in NW9.
The event is free. To register your interest contact Anji Patel or Odette Harris via email on firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 8358 4849.
Not only but also:
As part of the museum’s RAF Centenary Programme, a new digital project called RAF Stories will be launched. This online digital project aims to inspire participants to share accounts of the Royal Air Force. RAF Stories wants to find tales and records, not just from former and serving personnel, but also from their friends and family and partners who work closely with the RAF. More about this project in the July issue of Air Mail. Or keep an eye on the RAF Museum’s newsletters and website for earlier announcements: https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/london.
