Marjorie married Colin in 1949, after the Second World War. Colin had been in the RAF during the war, and they shared a long and very happy life together. Sadly, in 2013, Colin was diagnosed with cancer and he passed away in 2014. Now 95, Marjorie has continued to live in her own house on her own, supported by her 2 daughters who live locally. But the years have taken their toll on her mobility and a couple of years ago Marjorie had to give up her season ticket at St Andrews where she used to love watching The Blues’ (Birmingham City FC) annual battle for promotion to the Premiership! Marjorie is an amazing woman – she maintains her independence, her resilience, and a lovely twinkle in her eye. However, not a day goes by when she does not miss Colin, and Marjorie has had to find new ways to put her time to good use. She has learned to use a computer, has an email account, and now “surfs the internet” to combat the days when – as she describes it – she is “Billy No-Mates”.
