Matters arising from the minutes of the previous meeting
The secretary contacted Sarah Waugh for a copy of the Dublin meeting minutes. To date they have yet to be signed off. He will distribute them when they arrive.
The Membership Secretary stated she is still in the process of amending the members on the Branch register.
Everyone agreed that the November social event was a great success, as we offered Eric and Vivienne Freeman our best wishes for the future and a bon voyage.
The Secretary has liaised with the Wings Organiser and Sgt Martin Cassidy; the Branch will have a stall at the Christmas Fayre (see point 13.b).
The details of the Christmas Lunch have been placed on the website and Facebook.
The Secretary reported that he sent the minutes to 62 members via email; 2 of the emails were returned as address unknown and he received 26 replies from members acknowledging receipt of the email.
The 50 year badge has been received.
The lock on the store room in the ATC building has yet to be repaired. RAFALO representative will chase it up.
The Treasurer reported that the Branch Accounts, without bank rationalisation, as of the 30th November are:
General Account €3244.89
Welfare Account €1580.91
Wings Account –€ 0.10
1318 CHQ Sterling Branch Account £ 140.47
Petty cash € 110.00
Figures are to date but not as yet verified by statements from Service Funds, as it will not be available until mid-December.
The Wings account is at zero because the money was transferred to CHQ which amounted to €5715.45, plus €12 transfer fee. Acknowledgement of the transfer has been received but as yet nothing has appeared on our account.
The travel expenses for Welfare was agreed, however, to date nothing has been transferred to our account. Contact was made with Sarah Waugh but there has been no reply.
The RAFALO representative stated that the additional €1000 has been paid into CHQ account and the Branch will be credited with the Welfare rebate.
Welfare Officer’s Report
The Welfare Officer stated she has two ongoing cases. The Committee agreed to €40 donation to assist with welfare.
The Chairman will contact Len Griffiths and get an up to date list of RAFA Welfare administrators contact details. The RAFALO representative stated he would pass our problem onto Flt Lt Milligan and ask him to also get a list.
Membership Secretary’s Report
The Membership Secretary reported there is no change to the membership register.
The RAFALO representative is putting a paper together to assist with the discrepancies of the serving members on the register.
Wings Appeal Organiser’s Report
The Wings Appeal Organiser reported he collected €300 from the boxes in the main locations. It is not viable to collect the boxes from the minor locations on a monthly basis.
The merchandise for sale at the Christmas Fayre stall has been selected and will be discussed at point 13.b
The Membership Secretary reiterated; the Christmas Lunch will be held at Ryan’s Restaurant just outside Akrotiri Station, on Sunday the 10th December 2017 at 1 o’clock. The cost is €18.50 for adults and €9.50 for children. Anyone wishing to attend should contact her. To date 22 Adults and 5 children have indicated that they will attend. Confirmation emails will be sent a week before the event.
A raffle will be organised, as RAFALO have donated a couple of prizes.
The meeting will take place on the 10th January in the WO and Sgts Mess, 7.00pm for 7.30pm. The meeting will be followed by a RAFALO quiz.

Senior RAFALO stated there is a lot of activity on the station.
Next year is the 100th anniversary of the RAF. A project has been set up and called RAF 100. This will result in RAF Akrotiri having a set of official engagements.
The RAF 100 banner will be used to drive forward fund raising and awareness of the 4 charities adopted by RAF100, of which RAFA are one.
At a local level they are, at present, gathering sponsorship from businesses in the neighbouring area, with a view to supporting local charities.
A formal Gala Dinner will be organised by RAFALO on the 20th April 2018 in the St Raphael Hotel, Limassol. The projected cost of a ticket is €50. There will be a reduction in hotel fees for those who wish to stay overnight or up to 7days.
The RAFALO representative attended a Non-Government Organisation meeting in Paphos. The meeting lasted 2 and half hours and they bombarded us with figures. If an organisation is within the SBA it is governed by British law and if it is outside the SBA area, Cypriot laws apply, this includes Cypriot bank accounts.
If an organisation is tied into an overseas charity, as the Branch is, there is no change. RAFA cannot do any fund raising outside the SBA.
Where Her Majesty the Queen is the President of an association there is no process to register in Cyprus.
Branch Website Report
The Treasurer stated in relation to the websites there were 38 sessions; Cyprus 69%, United Kingdom 21% and others 9.1%.

Remembrance Day Parade
The Parade was enjoyed by all who attended and there were no problems incurred by members carrying out their duties.
The Stall will be set up by Jim and Wendy Phillips. It will be manned by:

Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The AGM will take place on the 7th March 2018 in the WO and Sgts Mess at RAF Akrotiri at 1930 hours.
The Secretary presented a nominations form and notification letter which will be sent to members. They were approved with an amendment to the station admittance contact being changed to Barry Higgs.
Any Other Business
The secretary will write to the Station Commander and the CMC for the use of WO and SGTs Mess in 2018.
Close of meeting
There being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 1220 hours. The next committee meeting; Thursday 25th January 2018 at 1100 hours in the WO and Sgts Mess.
