Legacies Received

The late Harold Bainbridge BEM recently died at the age of 85 leaving £500 in his Will to The RAF Association (RAFA)

hjb_-_annual_Normandy_Vets_Pilgrimage_-_Ouistreham_1994hjb_the_recruit_Jan_1940Having volunteered for the RAF in 1939 he was involved in the D-Day landings and Market Garden campaign. After demob he joined 3505 Fighter Control Unit ultimately becoming OC 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron.

According to his nephew, John Turner, his only passion was "for all things military, being actively involved in the market Garden Old Comrades Group and the Normandy Veterans Association".

Thank you Harold, your legacy will help provide a large number of grants to those who need it most.

Let us also not forget Vic and Eileen

Vic__Eileen_1Vic__Eileen_2Vic served during the war as an LAC (Clerk SD) in bases across the UK and Takoradi Air Base in the former Gold Coast. Vic met Eileen at Pontins Holiday Camp in Osmington and married in 1951. They were not blessed with children of their own but their extended family, including many (grand) nieces and nephews, numbers over 100!

Vic__Eileen_3Eileen was a stalwart member of the Brentwood Operatic Society and Vic was a long suffering supporter of Vic__Eileen_4Crystal Palace Football Club, needless to say Vic therefore was a truly dedicated person.

Thank you Vic and Eileen for your legacy of one third of your estate, you will have helped many deserving RAF family members have respite care breaks.
