2009 Easter Egg Run Highlights

Easter_Egg_9_-_2009Glorious sunshine saw more than 2,000 bikers from all over the Midlands and Wales descend on Shrewsbury Town Football Club before riding out in convoy along the M54 to RAF Cosford, where they distributed 1400 Easter Eggs for the families of serving men and women, including those recently returned from Iraq. Eggs were also sent on to injured personnel at Selly Oak Hospital and DMRC Headley Court.

Two of the bikers who came up from Leicestershire were Paul Sherwin on a Fat Boy Harley Davidson and John Hunt on a classic Yamaha Dragster 1100.

Paul said: “It could not be a better day to take part in this – we are really enjoying it. It is an excellent opportunity to meet other bikers and make new friends while supporting a great cause in the process.”One of the others who came up for the day was Darren Cook from London, who was on a Honda Fireblade. He said: “It was bizarre seeing so many bikers on the road and then thousands more when we got to Shrewsbury. It is a good way to support RAFA on a day like today when people almost want an excuse to go somewhere.”

The event was supported by air cadets from the local 1119 (Shrewsbury) ATC squadron, trainees from DCAE Cosford and TTF students from RAF Shawbury, who helped with registration and collecting donations.
