Welcome to the Overseas Area of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA). The Area Director is Mr Simon Martin.
The Overseas Area currently has about 6,000 members in 47 Branches located in 3 Areas - European, South African, Overseas Independent.

The European Area comprises 24 Branches from the Norwegian Branch in the North to the Malta GC Branch in the South and from the Republic of Ireland Branch in the West to the two Cyprus Branches in the East.

The European Area has its own Council which, with Branch Delegates, meets twice a year. At these Conferences, the Association's and the Area's business is conducted as well as providing social opportunities for old friendships to continue and for new friendships to be struck. The first Conference each year is held on the Friday before National Annual Conference. The second Conference is held in the Autumn and is hosted by one of the Area Branches.

The Area Director provides the Overseas Branches and Area Councillors and Honorary Liaison Officers with a Newsletter Bulletin every 2 months (the first of which each year goes out on 1 February).
To assist with welfare cases in countries where the Association does not have a Branch, there is a network of Honorary Liaison Officers (HLO's) - volunteers who are happy to provide advice and assistance where possible, to ex-RAF or serving RAF personnel and their families.

The Red Arrows will swap their famous red flying suits for red running kits when they take part in the 2010 Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for the vital work of the RAF Association's Wings Appeal.
