The RAF Association Remembrance Garden is located just a few minutes’ walk from the awe-inspiring Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire.
Opened in September 2009, the garden is dedicated to all those who selflessly devoted their lives to their country, regardless of the length of service. Serving and ex-serving RAF personnel, the families who supported them, as well as those working in the aviation industry or involved with commercial airlines; anyone, in fact, who shared the ethos of the RAF.
Family, friends, colleagues or anyone wishing to celebrate the life of a person or organisation associated with the RAF may place one of our specially-designed remembrance crosses or stones in the garden. These commemoratives may be placed in memory of someone whenever and wherever they died, at home or overseas, in action or off-duty, or during retirement.
A small, informal service is held in the garden each spring to dedicate the crosses and stones which have been laid throughout the previous twelve months.
For a suggested donation of £25, a cross bearing a personalised message may be placed in the garden for one year. After this time, a further donation of £25 may be made to refresh the message and retain the cross in the garden for a further twelve months. For the Remembrance Cross leaflet, Download here.
For a suggested donation of £250, a 200mm x 200mm remembrance stone celebrating the life of a loved one or commemorating a group or RAF-related organisation can be laid flat alongside the pathway which leads to and around the central feature.
Stainless steel Inscriptions are set into the Zephyr grey stone and headed with the RAF Association Wings emblem.
Please note that it takes a minimum of four months for the stones to be ordered, inscribed and laid in the garden.
