Our Work with Today’s Royal Air Force

The RAF Association continues to develop it's Welfare Services and works closely with the RAF Community Support Team to develop initiatives and help the serving community.

Contact_HousingRecent developments include financial assistance with RAF Contact Houses, these are a vital welfare facility used to accommodate families during personal crisis and also by estranged parents wishing to spend quality time with children in a suitable facility. We have helped over 22 RAF Stations to provide home comforts, including white goods, toys, beds and bedding and funded the renovation of communal gardens.

internet_cafeInternet Cafes are being developed and the RAF Association, last  year, assisted with a new internet facility at RAF Cottesmore. We have recently been awarded with the contract to manage the RAF Families Federation (previously Airwaves) and are continuing with providing advice and representation with War Pensions and the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, gift parcels for those serving abroad and signposting.

Further initiatives are planned include assisting with providing non-alcoholic facilities, providing youth facilities and helping to integrate those leaving the Royal Air Force back into society.

Storybook Wings

RAF Association is delighted to announce a delightful new welfare initiative called 'Storybook Wings' which some of you may be aware of. The concept involves parents recording stories and poems for their children so they may listen to them, and particularly their voices, if they are to be deployed.
